Mixing With Mandy Hot Cross Buns

If you want to substitute the milk for nut milk and the butter for dairy free spread you can.

To make the buns chocolate cross buns  remove the sultanas and substitute for chocolate chips.

  1. Add 300 grams of flour to mixing bowl, along with sugar, yeast, cold water, then boiling water, Dough function 30seconds.
  2. Add eggs beaten, butter melted, dough function, 1 minute.
  3. Add mixed spice, cinnamon, sultanas, Dough function, 10 seconds.
  4. Add remaining 600 grams of flour. Dough function, 2 minutes.
  5. Place dough in oiled bowl, covered, to rise for 1 hour. Then divide into 24 portions, roll into buns and place on a lined tray an inch apart and leave to rise until double in size, preheat oven to 210c.
  6. Once risen add your crosses to the top. Mix 4 tablespoons of flour 1 tablespoon oil together with a small amount of water, to create a thick paste, pipe onto your hot cross buns in lines from one side of the row of buns all the way across to create the crosses on all of them in one go.
  7. Bake 12 minutes 210c Place on baking rack while still hot from oven use 2 Tablesppons hot milk mixed with 1 Tablespoon of sugar and brush over the buns. Enjoy .
